Convert HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG, PNG, or PDF online

HEIC to JPG conversion turns the High-Efficiency Image Container files that iPhones and iPads create by default into formats every device can open. Apple's HEIC format is excellent for storage but causes friction whenever you need to upload, email, or print the photo on non-Apple platforms.

This tool decodes HEIC and HEIF files and re-encodes them to JPG (maximum compatibility), PNG (lossless quality), or PDF (printable document). Single-file conversion is free with a daily limit; batch processing of up to 10 files at once and ZIP downloads are available with Premium.

Tips for Converting HEIC Photos

  • Convert HEIC to JPG when uploading photos to social networks, job-application portals, or older websites.
  • Use PNG output when you need a transparent or pixel-perfect copy — for example, when editing further in a graphics app.
  • Choose PDF to send an iPhone photo as a printable document — handy for receipts, IDs, or scanned paperwork.

HEIC Converter FAQ

Why do iPhone photos arrive as HEIC files?
Since iOS 11 (2017), Apple devices save photos in the HEIC / HEIF format by default. It produces smaller files at the same quality, but most non-Apple software — including Windows, older versions of Office, and many websites — cannot open it. Converting HEIC to JPG or PNG makes the photo universally viewable.
Should I convert HEIC to JPG, PNG, or PDF?
Choose JPG for general use, sharing, and uploads — it is the most universally supported photo format. Choose PNG if you need lossless quality with no compression artifacts. Choose PDF when you need to print, archive, or email the photo as a document.
Is the HEIC converter free?
Yes. You can convert single HEIC or HEIF photos for free, with a daily limit and no registration. Batch mode (up to 10 photos at once with a ZIP download) and unlimited conversions are available with Premium.
How do I open iPhone HEIC photos on Windows?
Windows cannot open HEIC files without paid codec extensions. The fastest fix is to convert the photo to JPG right in the browser — the converted file opens in any version of Windows, in office software, and on every website.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
The conversion re-encodes the photo, but at high quality settings the difference is not visible to the eye. The JPG will be somewhat larger than the original HEIC, because HEIC compresses more efficiently — that is exactly why Apple uses it.
Can I make my iPhone shoot JPG instead of HEIC?
Yes: Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and select Most Compatible. Keep in mind HEIC photos take roughly half the storage space, so many people keep HEIC on the phone and convert individual photos only when sharing requires JPG.
